Abortion
I know this is a gravely controversial topic to many, but personally I am 100 % pro-choice. I was googling some pro-choice resources and one of the first links that came up in the search engine is understandably : http://www.prochoice.com/ I went to the website and clicked the ‘Abortion’ section, and guess what greeted me?Abortion is human intervention that does...

Sould I be a. or b.?
a. Pissed because my ex-boyfriend in so many words called me a hoe bag in front of mutual friends behind my back. b. Pissed becasue my bff felt compelled to tell me about it, and when I rattled off more than a few explicatives, told me she didn’t think there was anything for me to be upset about?

On Bitterness or (If you've got one foot in...
Bitterness serves no real purpose, save the bad taste it leaves in your mouth. If you have ever loved and lost, (and who hasn’t at this point?) you’ve experienced the pangs of moving on after a break-up. Break-ups are awful, but eventually all things come to an end in some way or another. That’s life. It may have seemed inconceivable the first time you dated someone else. ...

To hire movers, or to move it ourselves?
We’re moving from Indiana to Boston. Our apartment is mostly furnished, so really it’s just all clothes, lots of books, our entire kitchen (which is a LOT), 2 bikes, many guitars and instruments, and knick knacks. We have one car. Do we hire movers, or do we rent a truck and move it ourselves? I don’t mind driving the stuff halfway across the country. It’s loading and unloading that I’m not keen...

Do you eat when you're stressed?! Contact me!!
Do you eat when you’re stressed? Tell us about it! SELF is looking for women who tend to eat or drink more when they’re stressed (and want to stop). Indulge in ice cream after a rough day with the kids? Does the 3 P.M. meeting send you running for the office candy dish? Or do you log such long hours at the office that you grab pizza and takeout most nights because you’re too busy...

Girl Absurdity: Dolls are Absurd →
This blog entry downright enraged me. Albeit a Jealous rage, I was full of it. A whole log of it. When I was a little girl, I used to read everything that came in the mail. One of the things I used to read were catalogs. My favorite catalog to read as a girl were the American Girl catalogs. Yeah, back in the day before heavily-image-laiden websites were the norm, children, people used...

a different p.o.v.
i’m 24 years old. i moved from wisconsin to new york. i didn’t grow up in the middle of nowhere and most of my friends live in minneapolis-st paul so this isn’t a farm girl-big city girl issue i’m having. it seems that most of my friends in the midwest right now are married or getting married. i don’t have any friends who are my age who are married in nyc....

Must. Vent.
I want to know why, if 3 weeks later you were going to fly to fuck another girl, you would say you were in love with me. Remember how awkward? Remember how I said nothing and just stared into my wine? Remember how I told you I didn’t think you knew what that meant, and you were so angry? Why? It doesn’t make sense, to expend that effort, to say those important words, to try and fix the mess you...

to kill a mockingbird
i’m living the hell of the mockingbird scene from ‘failure to launch.’ it was one thing to have a mockingbird sing the sweet tune of car alarms from midnight to 5 a.m. when i was living in north carolina. it should be against the law for them to do that in philly. who even knew there were mockingbirds here. i love the book ‘to kill a mockingbird’ but i must say -...

Tastes like a metaphor ...
Last night I was served a tiny, beautiful plate of two raw oysters, still salty with sea water, and under them was this perfect hill of couscous, and I nearly ate a forkful before I realized it was rock salt.

I don't know what to think
So last week I was hanging out with my friend and we were talking about boys, because that’s what teenage girls do. I was talking to her about the guy I liked and she said something like, “I might have a boy, but I don’t want to tell you who, I don’t want to jinx it.” I was like whatever and I guessed a few guys and didn’t get it right. But then friday night I...

Who you are when I'm not around.
One of my biggest fears is building a life with the guy who says “we” until you leave the room, and then starts using “I.” Having survived this, I can attest that it can make you question every fiber of your being.

Update on my European love...
My roommate from Martinique just emailed me and said she overheard something that I might find interesting…to call her tonight.  Right.  I’ll wait 9 hours to find out.  So I badgered her at work and she responded with, “Something about 2 divorces and multiple girlfriends and no plans to commit to anyone ever again.” I am tempted to email him and wish him “the best of...

Foreign men
Well, I’ve gone and done it…I found myself a handsome suitor.  (er?)  Whatevs.  While in Martinique, I met my friend’s now-brother-in-law, and we spent the night dancing.  (She had a faboo DJ come in to spin records until 9am). He was immediately taken with me, and while he was forward, I was dismissive.  He’s the oldest brother of four (read: heir) and women swoon over him...

Block unwanted text messages.
T-Mobile has announced a new service that allows users to add filters to incoming phone numbers, essentially blocking unwanted text messages. This service was put in place to combat the growing text message spamming problem.
