My friend Rachel, who also works in the Advertising/Marketing industry sent me this YouTube clip: Derren Brown tasks two ad folk to create a name, ad, and tagline for a taxidermist only to prove that even people within the ad industry are susceptible to subliminal advertising. I mean I guess it’s true… A lot of ideas we come up with have already been done even if we don’t realize where the idea came from.
Patrick Moberg, a friend of mine as well as an incredible graphic designer, recently drew this illustration, titled “Nothing Rhymes With Orange.” If you’ve seen any of Patrick’s other work, or know him yourself, you’ll know that by no means is he someone who copies other people’s work. Yet someone emailed him pointing him to this threadless t-shirt, also titled “Nothing Rhymes With Orange.”
Patrick even said, “Crazy, someone sent me a link to this Threadless shirt, which, now that I look at it, I remember seeing it when it came out. I jotted down the idea for this illustration last week, and maybe subconsciously remembered this shirt? The similarities with the orange are uncanny.”
Just another everyday occurrence of your mind taking something that resonated with you and spitting it back out (in Patrick’s case, with a personal twist).
Interesting, eh?
