Reminiscing

As my fiancee and I were taking a short nap after lunch my mind flooded with memories of my childhood. This weather especially reminds me of a late afternoon in my hometown Tula. My cousin’s and my dusty shoes were in the sunroom along with the three gallon milk jar that was still letting off steam. The fact that there was no air conditioning allowed the smell of freshly brewed fruit juice to fill the kitchen. The house was quiet and we were all by ourselves. My mind then wanders to the warm eggs wrapped in newspaper that we just brought home by way of a winding dirt path from our neighbor. I miss those careless, drowsy, beautiful days so much. Life was so simple; no graduation timelines, no cars, no bills, no responsibilities to fulfill. Just two little girls enjoying the wonder and beauty of a Russian summer.
