The Battle of the Great Bullshitters

A friend of mine, and I were having a discussion about my personality. Besides being called a sociopath and a bitch, he made a very valid point. He said, “You have the type of personality that makes or breaks a person in the journalism industry, you have to have a tough shell.”

Yes — i’d love to be a writer that gets paid. If not, oh well, I have more hobbies than time.

So, conversation is going, and he brings up another point again. “Unlike some people, you realize that not everyone is going to like your writing, it took Stephen King 7 tries before someone actually liked his writing. I think Stephen King is a great writer but he isn’t a great storyteller”

So what’s the difference between a great writer and a great storyteller?

Great writer doesn’t necessarily mean grammatical wise, but more so the technique and how it’s used.

I thought it was interesting.
